Frequently Asked Questions

The knowledgeable, friendly La Plata Dental team is always happy to answer any questions our patients have. Over the years, we’ve heard some questions more often than others. Below, you’ll find the answers to some of the questions asked most frequently by our patients. If you want to find out more or don’t see your questions below, please don’t ever hesitate to contact our La Plata dentistry team. We look forward to seeing you and your family soon.

How often do I need to visit La Plata Dental?

We encourage patients to visit us for dental checkups at least two times each year. During these biannual visits, we’ll examine your smile, gather diagnostic data, and help you create a personalized plan for ongoing oral health care.

What if I have a dental emergency?

We welcome emergency patients in our La Plata dental office. In most cases, we’re able to offer same day emergency dentistry services for patients in need of urgent care.

What is periodontal disease?

Periodontal disease is better known as gum disease. This oral health condition is said to occur when plaque and tartar buildup at the gum line destroys connective gum and bone tissue. We offer a variety of periodontal therapies to restore oral health for patients suffering from this disease.

Does teeth whitening work?

Over the counter teeth whitening products don’t always deliver the dramatically brighter results they promise. However, professional teeth whitening solutions from our La Plata Dental team allow patients to achieve smiles up to ten shades brighter on average.

What if I get nervous at the dentist’s office?

We offer all of our patients with gentle, skilled attention. For those patients in need of extra help achieving maximum comfort, we offer sedation dentistry solutions.

Should I consider dental implants?

If you’re missing even one tooth, you should consider dental implant supported tooth replacement solutions. This versatile solution can be used to restore a single tooth or a full arch of teeth.  If you currently have or are in need of dentures, dental implants help stabilize a denture, making it more efficient and comfortable to use.

Do you take my insurance?

We are happy to process and file claims for most dental insurance providers. Additionally, we are in-network with many of the major PPO insurance providers.
